Choose the gateway first
Shanghai may suit a shorter East China route, while Beijing or another gateway can support a longer sequence. Arrival and departure cities should reduce backtracking rather than add it.
Compare rail and domestic flights
High-speed rail works well for many eastern city pairs. Longer sectors may need a domestic flight. Timetables, luggage, transfers, and the final travel date determine the practical choice.
Protect the arrival day

Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority and Ministry of Foreign Affairs state that, with effect from 9 February 2024, holders of ordinary passports issued by Singapore are exempted from visa requirements for a stay of up to 30 days in China under the reciprocal arrangement.
Entry conditions can change, and immigration authorities make the final admission decision.
